Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke about confrontation with death saying: “it’s the quality, not the longevity, of one’s life is what is important.”. Though Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in Jail, he always made quality use of his time. We are fortunate to have such a courageous man live a fulfilled 95 years. He lived by example, the greatest lesson for me, is that of FORGIVENESS. His spirit lives on.
The beauty of these Bayat rugs, meaning ‘vintage’ in Turkish, lies in their ethereal appearance. This unique effect is achieved by placing vintage pieces, chosen for their distinctive patterns, on sunny rooftops to be naturally faded by the sun’s rays.
As the years go by, almost all the colour and pattern gradually disappears to leave a ghostly image of the original. The result is a beautiful rug that is faded to perfection, but still strong and resilient.
