What is my favorite building in San Diego?
Most would guess the Salk Institute by Kahn… But nooo, all these years I have been keeping a secret lover - The Geisel Library, designed in the 1960’s by William Pereira and quietly tucked away in the back of UCSD’s campus. A fine piece of Brutalist Architecture that is sometimes ignored down in Southern California where the people like their buildings light and modern. But for me, there is something about the mass of this structure in which I simply feel safe, grounded & as the Germans say -“inruhe”.
